What the Valley asks of a security system

A system that works fine in a mild climate can struggle down here. The heat, the storms, the months a house sits empty and the gates on half the driveways in town all change how a system should be laid out.

Heat, storms and the power going out

Summer afternoons past 100°F are hard on electronics, and a tropical storm can knock the power and the internet out for a day or more. We place the panel and hubs out of the hottest spots we can find, and the panel keeps running on its battery and reports over cellular when the Wi-Fi is down.

  • Cellular backup when the internet drops

Houses that sit empty for months

Winter Texans head north in spring, and plenty of island and lake houses are only used a few weeks a year. A system you can check from anywhere tells you a door or window opened or someone walked up the drive — long before you would have found out.

  • Door and motion alerts wherever you are
  • Temperature alerts if the AC stops
  • Lights on a schedule so it looks lived in

Gates, fences and big yards

A lot of Valley homes and businesses sit behind a gate — a driveway gate on a corner lot, a fenced equipment yard, a ranch-style lot out past the city limits. The gate can be part of the system, with a code for each person and a camera on who comes through.

  • Open the gate from your phone
  • A code for each person or crew
  • A camera on the gate and the driveway

Questions

Service area questions people ask

Straight answers before anybody comes out to look at the property.

Do you come out to my town?

If you are in Hidalgo or Cameron County, most likely yes — the towns we cover are listed on this page. If you are somewhere in between, or out in the county past the city limits, call and tell us where, and we will give you a straight answer.

Is the walk-through the same everywhere?

Yes. Wherever the property is, we walk it with you, show you where each piece should go and give you a number before you agree to anything.

I have a house in McAllen and a place on the island. Can they be on one app?

Yes. Several properties can sit in the same app, each with its own sensors, cameras and locks, so you can check both from the same screen.

I am a winter Texan and only here part of the year. Can I set this up before I leave?

Yes, and that is the best time to do it. We can walk the house while you are still here, and once it is in, you can check it from wherever you spend the summer.

What happens during a hurricane or a long power outage?

The alarm panel runs on its backup battery through an outage, and cellular backup keeps it talking when the internet is down. How long the battery lasts depends on the panel and what is connected to it — ask us on the walk-through.

Can family members across town or across the border see the system too?

Yes. You can add other people to the app, each with their own login, and choose what each of them can see and control.
